Bike Pleasanton / School Program
Every kid deserves a safe way to ride to school.
Are you a student/parent at Alisal Elementary?
How the Survey Works
Trace your ride
Click along the streets you bike on to get to school, from your home to the school gate.
Rate the safety
Grade the ride A through F, and tell us which crossings or blocks feel risky.
Mark the danger spots
Drag a caution sign onto the exact intersection or stretch of road that worries you.
How our School Initiative Works
Map student routes
We collect the routes kids take to school through our school bike surveys and have families identify problem intersections and blocks.
Work with the city and schools to develop safety improvements
We bring that data to the city and schools to advocate for improvements that will create safer streets.
Organize the community
We work with parents and community members who want to make their school safer to bike to. We help bring Safe Routes to School programs to Pleasanton Schools.
Currently we only have a bike survey for Alisal Elementary school. If you're interested in bringing a bike survey to your Pleasanton school, let us know by emailing us at info@bikepleasanton.org
Why safer routes to school
Our members let us know that creating safer paths for kids to bike to school was their number one priority. Providing safe streets for kids to bike to school reduces school traffic, increases kids's autonomy, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and improves the health of kids in Pleasanton.
